I hate going to the grocery store on a rainy day. And wouldn’t you know it. It’s raining today and I have to go to the grocery store. I only shop for food every couple of weeks because it is such a hassle. And so when I do shop, I stock up on frozen foods and canned goods that will last. But, now I’m low on several staples – milk, bread, juice, etc. Thus, I have no choice but to do my shopping this afternoon.
So why does the rain bother me? Very simple. When I walk out of the store, I can’t push the cart filled to the top with groceries and hold my umbrella at the same time. Such a dilemma. Actually, I should consider myself lucky if this is the worst problem I have all day. Meantime, since I will wear my winter jacket, I can just pull up the hood and I won’t get too wet anyway.

HOME DELIVER
I’ve been so busy the last several days with my contest, www.FunnyPhotosContest.com a photo contest for cute or funny photos and photo captions, that I just couldn’t get to the grocery store although I needed a lot of things. But thank goodness for home delivery. And even more than home delivery, I appreciate high technology and the ability to click on the store’s website, browse through all their products on my computer screen, and select all my choices. It’s almost as if, I were walking down the actual aisles of the store.
However, when I awoke this morning I remembered that the last time I ordered groceries from the Sentry Grocery store in Madison, Wisconsin, the deliveryman did not include the milk I had ordered as the brand I wanted was not in stock. To avoid the problem this time, I called the store and requested a substitute. “No problem” the employee said and proceeded to hang up. “Wait,” I said, “I didn’t give you my name.” He then completely surprised me by speaking my name and saying he had it right there on his caller ID. I swear, high technology will never cease to amaze me – but then, I’m a senior citizen, “What do I know!”

GROCERY STORE
I was very impressed. After working all day on my website, www.FunnyPhotosContest.com for cute or funny photos and photo captions, I rushed to the store to do my grocery shopping. But when I returned home and finished unpacking all my groceries, I could not find several items. Perhaps, I thought, I left a bag in the car. And so I went out to the garage to inspect my trunk, but it was empty. I could only assume the items were still at the store.
I know that many people carefully check their receipts as they put away their purchases to make sure they did not get overcharged. But not me. It’s too much trouble and not worth the time. So I simply throw away my receipt. Luckily paper has to be recycled and I quickly dug it out of the garbage. Sure enough the cashier had charged me for the items and they appeared on the slip, but I didn’t have them.
It was late in the day and I was just too tired to drag myself back to the store to pick up the groceries that the ‘bagger’ had forgotten to place in my cart. Thus, I called the grocery store and lo and behold not only did they tell me they had my bag of groceries, but since I lived only a few minutes away, someone would deliver them to me shortly. Sure enough. Within 20 minutes the doorbell rang and a grocery employee handed me my missing items. As I said, I was very impressed.
