SNOW DAYS

All Wisconsin children know that frigid cold temperatures and blizzard snowfalls will cause schools to close for the day. And, today makes the second day in a row that school has closed. Both yesterday and today, the temperature, including the wind chill factor, has dropped to 35 degrees below zero. And because the freezing cold temperatures can cause frostbite within a matter of minutes, it is dangerous to be outside.

During a normal winter, schools will close for maybe one or two days throughout the whole season. But our unusual weather conditions this year has brought the total to 4 days of no school already and today’s date only brings us half way through the winter season. Although the children love it, they forget that schools are by law allowed to close for only three days each school year. And so when June arrives and the children anxiously look forward to summer vacation, they will unfortunately have to spend a few extra days is school during the beautiful summer days making up the time they missed.

It’s a mixed blessing and so I feel a bit sorry for my two grandsons. But at the same time, since they are home instead of in school, I can ask them to give me a little extra help. They can assist me with sorting all the photos I receive for www.FunnyPhotosContest.com.
