I did it !!!! I finally played a game of sudoku and won without any guessing. I am so excited, even if it did take me an hour. I’ve been playing sudoku for about four years although not very often because it just takes too long. Part of the reason it takes me so long is that I always choose to play the hard puzzles. I have tried the easier ones, but they don’t provide enough challenge.
I think I succeeded today because for the past week, I have played sudoku every day. I found a website www.gamesforthebrain.com with a sudoku game that has given me some good practice. And for some reason, perhaps because I concentrate more, I seem to do better at games I play on the computer. At least this has been true when I play bridge on the computer. At any rate, whatever it is, I’m just happy that I finally won a sudoku game without guessing!

SUDOKU
Well it took me four months, but I finally completed the Sudoku puzzle I started in November. And what a “thrill of success” I felt when I finished it. No doubt you might wonder, “How does it take someone such a long time to solve just one puzzle?” Let me explain. To begin with, although my Sudoku skill only ranks as average, I don’t attempt the “average” Sudoku puzzles. In fact, I work on the very hardest, as I only subscribe to the Sunday newspaper which contains the most difficult puzzle of the whole week.
As a result, I make a lot of mistakes. Furthermore, because I am a very persistent person I refuse to start a new puzzle until I successfully complete the one I’m working on -- without looking at the answer. That being the case, I constantly have to start over and over until I get it right. And finally, I usually don’t spend much time on the puzzles. More often than not, I only work on the copy I keep in my purse while waiting in the doctor’s office, etc. Thus, it always take me quite a while to complete a single Sudoku puzzle. But this is the very first time it has taken me as long as four months.
